Lynchburg was served by the Southern, N&W, and C&O and their presence is still felt.

Here's the Southern's old mainline bridge over the James River. It's even more impressive from below.

CSX inherited their trackage through Lynchburg from the C&O. Their line follows the James River to Richmond.

There are lot's of impressive trestles like this one in the Lynchburg area so bring your cameras.
