ACL F2A #325 and F2B #324, posed on Joe Balint's trestle
with the yucky Raleigh Civic Center ceiling "photoshopped" out by Sonny
Carter of Natchitoches, LA
Why these two? Honest reason is that I had the Highliner
shells and wanted to do an ACL model on them...the Highliners make great
models of early F units, allowing one to fiddle the side panels, fans, etc.
fairly easily but very accurately. But I am fascinated with the Atlantic
Coast Line main line thru eastern NC, and the doggy breakfast EMD power
consists they ran at that time - strings of Geeps and F units, all
invariably dirty and grubby. Big long trains moving fast too...from
Petersburg Va to Florence SC it was solid double track and called the
"Speedway." To this day one does not chase trains on the ACL... :-) |
